Kiliana Choir Visit 2008
The Kiliana Choir arrived in Kendal on the evening of Thursday
7th February after a day visit to York and were all very excited
about spending time with their host families. Most of the girls
were also looking forward to spending a day in a "normal
English school", which they did on the Friday. Some comments
were that the girls thought that the English teachers were
much more friendly to the pupils than Belgium teachers!! Everyone
met up on the Friday evening for a rehearsal and games led
very well by Sarah and Alex.

On the Saturday morning many of the girls met up in Kendal
for shopping and lunch before rehearsals in the afternoon
followed by an afternoon tea.
The evening concert was very entertaining and interesting with
the Kiliana Choir performing some beautiful pieces in their
native language, French and English. Amabile and Kiliana
joined together to sing two pieces which was a wonderful
sound and very much enjoyed by the audience.
On Sunday both choirs met for a lovely cruise on a calm Lake
Windermere in the Spring sunshine and all passengers were
treated to an impromptu concert from both choirs.
Then finally to finish off the weekend, there was a disco at
Kendal Rugby Club to ensure that our Belgium friends went
home knowing that they
had had a very full and
entertaining four days.
Thanks should go to the
Amabile Committee for
all their hard work in
organising the action-packed stay and
especially to all families
who generously hosted
the girls.
