Amabile Girls Choir

The choir's success has come from numerous engagements in competitions, performances and workshops with distinguished artists such as Catherine Bott, Pamela Cook, Bob Chilcott, David Lawrence and Wyn Davies, in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Britain. Amabile has toured extensively in Europe; Belgium, France, Greece, Slovenia, Germany, Spain and also to Canada and America. Since its founding, Amabile Choirs have enjoyed national and international success. An important moment in this success occurred in November 2006, when the choir won the BBC Radio 3 Youth Choir of the Year in the UK, with 134 out of 135 marks. The choir won the Manchester Amateur Choral Competition in 2014.

At the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 2002, Amabile won the Senior Children's Choir class, with a total of 194 marks out of 200 and in April 2006 the choir took part in the European Musical Festival for Youngsters in Neerpelt, Belgium where it was awarded a first prize. In March 2005, Amabile's outstanding contribution to the civic life of Kendal was formally recognised when it received the Alfred Wainwright Memorial Award.

In 2009, Amabile released its second CD, So Fair and Bright, and the title track was played on Classic FM on Christmas Day 2009. In October of 2012 Amabile was awarded first prize in the youth choir category at the North Wales Choral Festival in Llandudno. They went on to win the title of Youth Choir of the Year at the Manchester Amateur Choral Competition in March of 2013 and subsequently qualified for a place in the Senior Children's Choir category at the prestigious Llangollen International Eisteddfod in July.
