Charlotte Jackson

Charlotte Jackson began her singing career as a member of the world renowned girls’ choir, Cantamus under the tutelage of Pamela Cook. Subsequently she studied singing at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester with Caroline Crawshaw, and at the Guildhall School of Music with Arthur Reckless.


Charlotte has taught for institutions including Lancaster University, St Martin’s College, Lancaster, the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, and the Musical Society of Nigeria and the Sage Gateshead. She currently teaches for the National Youth Choir of Scotland, Trinity School, Carlisle and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Penrith. She is singing teacher to the Choristers of Carlisle Cathedral and maintains a small private practice.


Charlotte established Amabile Girls’ Choir in 1996. It enjoyed national and international success, including winning BBC Radio 3 Youth Choir of the Year in 2006. Charlotte relinquished her musical directorship with Amabile in September 2010 and is now its President and a choral consultant to the choirs. From January of 2019 she has directed Sempre Amabile, the alumni choir of Amabile. In spring 2010 Charlotte directed the inaugural National Youth Choir of Scotland National Girls Choir Training Choir and from September 2010 to June 2013 she was Musical Director of NYCoS Dumfries. In April 2017 Charlotte was invited to be the Musical Director for Cumbria Youth Choir. Charlotte has given choral workshops in North America as well as venues closer to home.


In January 2010 Charlotte was a CREAR Scholar, studying song with the international pianist and song coach, Malcolm Martineau. Masterclass participation also includes masterclasses with Dame Ann Murray, Lorna Anderson and Robin Bowman. She currently studies with Dr Patricia McMahon
Before the pandemic solo work included, Mozart Solemn Vespers and Requiem Swaledale Festival, Dureflé Requiem, Wigton Choral Society, Bizet Te Deum, Keswick Choral Society, Haydn Harmoniemesse, Swaledale Festival, Haydn Stabat Mater, Carlisle Cathedral, Elijah, Lanercost Festival, Messiah, Swale Singers, Karl Jenkins Requiem and Ralph Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem, Cumbria Rural Choirs and the German Requiem for Cockermouth Harmonic Society. Since the pandemic Charlotte is delighted to have sung for Keswick Choral society and
Penrith Singers.
