Sempre Amabile's winning performance in the final

Sempre Amabile triumphed at the Isle of Man Festival of Choirs this October, winning first place in both the Ladies Voice Choir and Open Voice Choir categories, as well as bringing home the 'Choir of the Festival' award in Sunday's Winners' Final.

With a final programme that incorporated music by female composers, and celebrated female empowerment, Sempre received a standing ovation from the audience, and brought people to tears with their emotional performances. The adjudicator, opera singer Maria Jagusz, praised their communication and vocal expertise and awarded them the only 'Exceptional' grading at the festival with a mark of 95/100.

Sempre competed against the excellent Welsh male voice choir Bechgyn Bro Taf, local favourites Manx Voices, and the Mixed Voice winners Cor Dre. The festival, known as "the friendly festival", truly lived up to it's name, with members of the final choirs, along with other competitors, sharing an afternoon of celebratory singing in a nearby bar. Collaborations between the choirs are already being planned so watch this space!
